Eric Hanes is originally from Southern California where he graduated from Canyon High School and attended College of the Canyons. Eric started his law enforcement career with the Darke County Sheriff’s Office in June 1995. Over the last 28 years, he has served numerous roles within the Agency, including Corrections Officer, Road Deputy, Detective, Special Response Team Member, Narcotics Investigator, School Resource Officer, and Court House Security.
During his tenure as an SRT member, he specialized in tear gas deployment, RAM entries, and is certified as a drone operator. Eric was awarded Deputy of the Year and earned a merit service award for his leadership role during a standoff situation with an armed suspect.
When he is not serving his community, you’ll find him enjoying time with his family, on his fishing boat, or watching the Chicago Bears.
